If you're a fan of Traveller, this picture should make your central circulatory organ thump a little harder. The amber-colored ships are Aslan, and this is the first time the smallest Zhodani ship and the Imperial Atlantic cruiser have been rendered all the way through. ahh where were these 25 years ago when I actually played Traveller? |

Where were these forty years ago? I still wouldn't have roleplayed, but my tabletop spaceships would have been a lot more interesting. Traveller was always a fun read for me, but I always loved the ships the most. I even bought some of the original artwork from Marc. ;->= Now, just need to figure a way to display the Fighting Ships book next to the frame. Doug |

The front right ships remind me of what the Ralnai ships should have looked like. The back row would have been Terran Imperium or Federation ships and the "Aslan" ships would have made great Nekton ships. Awesome looking ships. |

Very exciting to have some Aslan ships added to the line. Also looking forward to purchasing half a dozen P.F. Sloans. Well done, Ken and Marc! Keith F. |

I like the look of some of them (back row, left hand side) but others look too much like "Giant Space Fighters" rather than large starships. I noticed this trend started with Star Trek and the Bird of Prey design. Since then so many large starships feature wings, large projections/guns/tubes on the wings, and front ends that look like cockpits. In the image above the five ships on the right of the front row look like fighters for "Silent Death" rather than large starships.

Visceral, ya know, that 's the beauty of starship minis; you can change their scale and repurpose them with the stroke of a brush. I was thinking as I first viewed these latest renders, "Oooh, I can change that one to a space fighter by just painting that panel in gold as a canopy.. and that one, and that one, and that one too! Mwahahahaaa!!!" Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net

Interestingly, the rabid B5 crowd would say even the fighters shouldn't have wings. @VIS And Leland would be delighted to tell you your second example was used as a full-sized starship in SFB. ;->= Doug |

Visceral Impact Studios, Those Zhodani ships are either streamlined for atmospheric operations, or semi-streamlined for skimming hydrogen from gas giants. There was also a conscious design decision to make the Zhodani ships less "chunky" than most of the Imperial designs, and to have greater uniformity among the Zhodani designs, to reflect their greater cultural uniformity. |

Yeah, they 'live in the mind'; all about the aesthetics… ;->= I mean, turbans? Doug |

So ate these different from the Ships released as two fleet's a few years back? |
Ad Astra News | 14 Jul 2015 11:15 a.m. PST |
Some of them are the same, but there are several new Imperial and Zhodani shis, and this is the first time Aslan ships have ever been produced. |
