Yep!

RobH11 Feb 2015 7:18 a.m. PST

Amazing, makes you wonder if there is anyone left who wants the game that has not joined the KS?

Rhoderic III and counting11 Feb 2015 7:28 a.m. PST

With three hours left, I'm making my final decision to let this one slip away. Like the seductresses in REH's stories, this Kickstarter is one hell of a temptation, but you can tell it's trouble from miles away.

Xintao11 Feb 2015 7:29 a.m. PST

Me. I want in, but can't afford it at the moment. They should have waited till tax refunds were in, lol.

I will pay the extra 20% to buy it 4 years from now when available. Normally I am a big supporter of KS, but this one worries me.

And I backed both Dwarven Forge KS in four figures, so I am not risk averse.

James Wright11 Feb 2015 7:50 a.m. PST

I am there with you RobH. I think sometimes with the miniature gaming kickstarters that so many people buy into them, there is not much of a demographic left to become a general customer afterwards.

I know a lot of tabletop roleplayers, but I don't know a single one who bought a Reaper Bones mini anywhere but kickstarter. I am sure they are out there, but it seems like it goes the other way so often.

Lou from BSM11 Feb 2015 7:58 a.m. PST

What worries you? I've never joined a KS campaign before, but I am seriously thinking about this one. All but one of the stretch goals are unlocked, so that's a horde of minis for $135 USD + s/h. Even if it tops in at $200 USD, I think it's a heck of deal.

What are your reservations? Why should I be fearful of this, having no experience with past KS?

Lou from BSM11 Feb 2015 8:00 a.m. PST

@James

I've bought a few Reaper Bones minis at a local game shop, but they were impulse buys while shopping for W40k stuff.

nazrat11 Feb 2015 8:17 a.m. PST

The bigger they are, the harder it is for them to produce all this stuff. I would avoid Kickstarters that are this "successful"…

LostPict11 Feb 2015 8:23 a.m. PST

Could not resist – must have the precious. The road to Mordor is paved with good intentions by Crom.

Lou from BSM11 Feb 2015 8:25 a.m. PST

Is there a chance that I lose my investment? If the KS is so 'successful' that they cannot meet demand, will my money be refunded or do I lose out altogether? Is that the 'risk' that others are talking about?

moonfleetminis11 Feb 2015 8:27 a.m. PST

Not gona buy another board game that im not gonna play:(
Looks like a good deal though if you play these type of games.

Heisler11 Feb 2015 8:35 a.m. PST

I'm staying away from this one as well. At the very least the fulfillment will be a nightmare. By all reports from Reaper the BONES lines is selling quite well after the first kickstarter and is outstripping their metal sales. They are currently shipping rewards to BONES II backers.

Rhoderic III and counting11 Feb 2015 8:36 a.m. PST

What nazrat said. Plentiful funding is nice and all, but there are other bottlenecks. Throwing more money at a bottleneck isn't going to make it go away, it's just going to clog it even more.

Not that anything is certain when it comes to Kickstarters, mind. There have been some arguments made for why this one might not be delayed as much as some of us fear it will be, like the fact that most of the creative work seems to be done. For my own part I'm tempted, but with my finacial situation I have to be conservative with my risk-taking, and there's something about 15000 backers and 3.1M dollars (at time of writing) that screams "Alarm! Alarm!" grin

Moonbeast11 Feb 2015 9:07 a.m. PST

I'm in. I pledged fairly large on Robotech, so I'm used to waiting for kickstarter deliveries. This will probably be no different, and I'm patient and have plenty of other projects to work on.

Lou from BSM11 Feb 2015 9:56 a.m. PST

Ok I'm in. First time for everything I suppose…

Hopefully this goes well and doesn't sour me on KS in the future!!!

ajbartman11 Feb 2015 10:30 a.m. PST

There is always risk with Kickstarters, that is part of the overall risk. I have had several delayed but that did not impact what I did receive. I back this one because I'm a huge fan of Conan.

Xintao11 Feb 2015 10:38 a.m. PST

I'm not in, but closing KS like this are a fun ride.

I'm in too, I was persuaded by my son.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP11 Feb 2015 11:02 a.m. PST

I must confess to being a huge Conan fan, but I have enough projects on the go that I will wait a while- plus I am not adverse to paying a little more once the supply chain is established

Redcurrant11 Feb 2015 12:10 p.m. PST

I am in. I have no interest in the game, but the figures look magnificent.

I do not care if the delivery date is put back, I have more than enough to get on with in the meantime.

IIRC you can lose all your money with no recourse. It's not a pre-order system.

galvinm11 Feb 2015 3:04 p.m. PST

I went in. 1st Kickstarter I supported. If it takes awhile to get, I am not too worried. Like others, I have mountains of unpainted lead to work on. As long as I get it. I have watched some of the others (Defiance), that have turned into nightmares. The Bones one tempted me, but I was not really into those figures. I really like the look of these. Hopefully, all will go well.

Dark Fable11 Feb 2015 6:44 p.m. PST

I waited till the very end before contributing . . . looking forward to getting this game and all the models. But I have a feeling with over 16,000 contributors its going to be a long wait!

Xintao11 Feb 2015 10:02 p.m. PST

Some quick math for fun.

Avg pledge of $207 USD per person.

Rough count of core+stretch goals about 170 figures

That's 2.7 million plastic figures to produce. And that's conservative. Didn't count all the addons that it looks like, on average people got and the King box exclusives.

Lou from BSM12 Feb 2015 6:18 a.m. PST

$207 USD per person for roughly 170 figures = $1.22 USD per figure on average. That's a pretty good deal. I just hope it comes to reality in a timely manner, and I'm not stuck waiting for months beyond goal.

Projection is October, should be here for Christmas (optimistic estimate) or my birthday next year (March).

LostPict12 Feb 2015 8:54 a.m. PST

They are going to have something approaching 100 scenarios for the game. I realized early on that for me all the repeatability and all the scenarios would last the rest of my life if I did nothing but Conan gaming; so instead for me it was all about the minis.

Looking through the pile, I realized that at least 40 of the minis I would want for my on Conan table top gaming if the production run minis closely match the masters. My personal cost analysis is that if I bought those on the second hand market for anymore than $3 USD each (mini plus postage), the KS was a good deal even if I hated the game and sell off the other 130+ minis to pay for KS cost.

So here's to cross fingers and hoping I see these before 2016, by Crom ;-)

AppleMak12 Feb 2015 12:56 p.m. PST

I'm in as well. It was the minis that sold me and I can use them in other games anyway. If it's delayed, even 6 months, I can deal with it – I also have a figures mountain to climb. At the end of the day the financial risk was worth it.

Marshal Mark12 Feb 2015 3:44 p.m. PST

$207.00 USD USD per person for roughly 170 figures = $1.22 USD USD per figure on average. That's a pretty good deal.

Not as good a deal as the basic Barbarian pledge which is over 130 figures for $90. USD That's what I've gone for, and I think it will give plenty of replayability and variety.

I've been amazed at how much money people are prepared to spend on this game. I think a lot of people are seduced by the idea of kickstarter exclusives and wanting to have everything.
Personally I think the barbarian set will do me fine, and if after a couple of years of regular play I'm still keen on the game and have played every scenario with different combinations of the 17+ heroes, and want more variety, then I can buy an expansion or two at retail prices then.

darthfozzywig12 Feb 2015 10:59 p.m. PST

I wouldn't be too worried about them eventually delivering. October seemed optimistic, but since they already have most of the components ready to go to press, they might not be all that late.

Matsuru Sami Kaze13 Feb 2015 11:20 a.m. PST

16,000 deliveries? Are you kidding…this is going to be a long, long wait.

ced110613 Feb 2015 3:01 p.m. PST

I think it's safe to say that the barrier to entry for plastic injection miniature boardgames is *much* higher than for locally made metal and resin miniatures. The publisher and others behind Monolith have already produced boardgames with plastic miniatures, though definitely not on the scale of the Conan KS. So I'm more confident of Monolith delivering than other metal and resin miniature KS's I've seen (eg. CSM, Dust: Battlefront, etc.).

OTOH, Pretty much every plastic miniatures first-time KS that have promised this many SG's has been late by several months. Frex, Cthulhu Wars, Bones I, Fairytale Games. Not sure about Zombicide I.
