These pictures are so lovely and bring a tear to my eye. The Eastern Roman techniques represented in such a beautiful way so far from Rome and Constantinople (Istnabul)

I noticed the Byzantine influence, too.

I visited that Gondar church in 1975.
Rode into town in the luggage box on top of the cab of an Ethiopian truck.
I don't remember the last two paintings, they may have been on less accessible walls.
Thanks for posting them !!

You do good work, Druzhina, bringing these to our attention.
Keep it up.

Can these be used as a guide to the more … irregular Abyssinians in Victorian Colonial times?

The last 2 panels are below the 3rd. This image shows the layout towards the left of these panels:

AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL!!

Just think of it! Depending on when in the 18th Century these were commissioned, the eastern seaboard of North America was either still a colony of the British Empire or fighting for its independence to eventually become the genesis of the United States, not to mention the sizable bulk of the continent as well as all of Central America and the Caribbean was the Viceroyalty of New Spain. AMAZING history intertwined!

Thank you very much for sharing the links with us, Druzhina! thumbs up
