Hi all, Our club's annual January game this year was (what else?)a replay of Waterloo. To paraphrase the Duke it was a damn near run thing… The first part of the AAR is up on my blog. Stay tuned for the remaining chapters!

Inspiring, what a proper battle should look like, are those 20mm or 28mm troops? |

Great looking waterloo game rosbif, looks well planned, well considered and great accurate terrain. For a similar game on a smaller ground scale check out YouTube 'DBN waterloo' its all inspiring stuff, thanks |

@JJMicromegas- while my collection is all 20mm, this game was played with 28mm figures, the majority being Front Rank figures belonging to our kind host and his son, Tim and Andrew. Thanks for the kind words, all, and stay tuned for Part III! |

Thanks guys, cracking stuff, a couple of questions, how long did the game take to play? and how many game turns? |

@True Grit – our big historical games are played over 3 and a half days on the first weekend of January, starting on Thursday evening and usually going until Saturday evening or Sunday morning if required. I can't recall exactly how many turns, but there was a timetable on the shed wall with the expected number of turns mapped out per day, which we kept to fairly consistently. I think we were averaging 12 turns per day, though turns went a lot quicker earlier in the game before things bogged down in combat. |

Me and some friend played our own down scaled version of waterloo. Sadly not on the grand scale of Rosbif and his friends but a good fun game was had by all. [URL=http://s251.photobucket.com/user/a12t/media/IMG_1911.jpg.html]

Nice! What figure scale were you using? Ours was 1 figure = 60 men. What size and make of figures are these? |
True Grit | 12 Mar 2015 2:51 a.m. PST |
Nice! ( I'll take that from Rosbif) the scale we used was 1 base = a Brigade of 2000 to 2400 Inf or 1200 to 1600 Cav approx. If you note the Infantry bases with a blutac ball this is 'reduced strength brigades' of which the British had a few following Quatre bras. We used 15mm figures on a 4.5 foot x 3 foot table. Cheers |
