A few years ago I found a supplier in Russia of the Ogonek kits of Russian armour. There is a KV-something, a JS-III, a JSU-152 and a not very good T-34/85. The kits are all fairly crude, but those I've seen are pretty good in terms of nailing the shape and outline. Looking online, several of these kits are still out there, but thanks to the collapse of the rouble they are now ludicrously cheap. They are all between £3.00 GBP and £4.00 GBP! This is about 60% of the cost of a series 1 Airfix kit in 1/76 scale and yet these things are 1/30! OK, there is still postage from Russia, but order several in one go and it dilutes the individual unit price. If I could only find the supplier I used, I'd be filling my boots. The JSU-152 is not bad at all and if you felt like it you could convert it to a JS-II easily enough. ditto the KV can become a KV-2. |

If you Google them you get a bunch of websites with an .ru or .ua suffix which are in Russia or Ukraine. Translate the page and voila. I wish I could find details of the supplier I used before – if I find the mails I will post a link. |

Prompted me to search online for a company in Siberia that sold some very nice 54mm figures. However, searching in Google for Siberian models was not a good idea (then again…). |
