Has anyone got a land line or other contact phone number or address for Darrell? I've been trying his mobile for a few months now and there is no pick up. He's had a 28mm Late Roman Army of mine for the past 2 years and I would love for him to paint it. But if he can't, I'd like it back. I'm getting a bit concerned over the dead air to my e-mails and phone calls. Cheers, |

Darrell recently popped up on the Steve Dean forum to explain that real life had been a bit rough for the last while, so you should be able to get hold of him (maybe not through an old number). Here's the thread; link |

Thanks for the fast responses folks, I'll try it out. I know he went through the ringer, spoke to him a few times over the past couple of years. Just hope he's up to answering mails as I'm a bit concerned. |

I have had the exact same problem with him promising to paint a batch of figures for the last two years. He eventually returned the miniatures (unfinished) to me after numerous Emails. He has reappeared and is posting regularly on the Lead Adventure Forum under the name Atheling. Best of luck! |

Thanks Malamute. I hope I can sort this out. |

I was thinking about contacting this giant last year for miniature painting. Thank God I didn't. |

JP, I'll e-mail you with my up to date details now. I've no idea why you haven't got through on my mobile, it's the same no. I've been receiving a hoard of junk calls so I may have vetted your call as your name didn't come up. Anyway, I'll see to it now. Darrell. |

You forgot to mention that your mini's were returned, many of them painted free of charge! By way of explanation, to anyone who may be interested, I've had a hell of a few years personally including a lung cancer misdaignosis, been told I had emphysmema which turned out 2 years later to be my heart. so one heart attack later and one 13 year relationship gone I'm back again. Darrell. |

I think you have actually exaggerated there Darrell, none of the figures were finished. Several were only half complete, the rest were mostly undercoated. The one banner you supplied was only painted on one side! Not such a good deal Eh?.. and I even paid for them to be returned to me. So I waited nearly two years for nothing. Personals issues or not you undertook a commission and you failed to deliver. |

Personals issues or not you undertook a commission and you failed to deliver. I wonder how many times that has taken place in the Estate Agency 'trade'? LOL :) Seriously though, I had intended to do your mini's, I had a series of successive crisis that effected my mental as well as physical well being. When clients asked me about this I responded (albeit later than normal) explaining why things had not been completed. I was honest and wore my 'heart on my sleeve' so's to speak. Some people react differently to others in a crisis. I remember a certain sculptor and friend of mine who got a load of criticism on this forum for not sending out orders (he *really* was put through the ringer in an oft malicious manner). Now that things in his life have improved everyone is singing his praises again. I stuck by him through the whole process as I knew some of the circumstances behind the problem. I'm not a machine. I'm a human being with all the positives and negatives that this means. You were more than happy with the first batch I seam to remember (when I was well or at least not as ill as I was later) Darrell. |

Aetheling, I fear your condition has had wider ramifications than the failure to deliver good customer service, it's scuppered your ability to spell too.
You were more than happy with the first batch I seam to remember Seam: Noun the line formed by sewing together pieces of cloth, leather, or the like. "The seam of his trousers came unstiched" Seem: Verb (used without object) to appear to be, feel, do, etc. "She seems better this morning" Mercenary Morris Dancer – correcting spelling, one post at a time. |

Unless your dead or totally incapacitated there are NO excuses in not communicating with your customers and either doing the job, returning the figures and or returning the money if any had been paid. Period!! Sorry, I just cannot be sympathetic when there are ways to remedy the issues. |

LONG VALLEY GAMER:
Unless your dead or totally incapacitated there are NO excuses in not communicating with your customers and either doing the job, returning the figures and or returning the money if any had been paid. Period!! Sorry, I just cannot be sympathetic when there are ways to remedy the issues. No money had been payed. I agree that I should have ideally kept up communications with my customers. I did not ignore them completely. I see that I'm going to have to spell it out. I'm not making any excused but this is what happened in chronological order: i/ Lung Caner Diagnosis. ii/ Three months before this was declared to be a MIS-diagnosis. iii/ Emphysema diagnosis- I could barely walk. iv/ Clinical Depression- oft overlooked but very serious condition. iv/ Deaths in family. v/ Clinical Depression worsens. I won't say anymore on that subject. vi/ So, two and a half years later having the medical profession convince me that my lungs were failing my GP (of all people!) sent me for an angiogram where it was discovered that I had had a series of minor heart attacks. vii/ Surgery. viii/ Recovery. viiii/ heart problems persisted until they had sorted out the medication which took many months. x/ Dearly loved partner of 13 years leaves. You see, I was not merely ignoring my customers and in many ways was incapacitated. Long Valley Gamer, I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself until you know the facts. It seems some people have nothing better to do than cast their holier than thou judgement upon others who they know very little about or in fact the overall circumstances of a particular situation. OK, after that explanation (not excuse!) I now consider this conversation, at least from my perspective, closed. I will say now more on the subject Darrell. Hi all, Thank you all for your comments and inputs. I did not want this to grow out of hand. I've spoken to Darrell (Atheling) and I've decided to give him a chance to finish the figures. I do understand the crap he has been through and yes, communications left to be desired, but I do think he is a proper and good person and a good painter. I look forwards to being able to post pics of his Late Romans here around the time of Salute, which is when he has undertaken to get them done by. JP |
