A battle report written by one of my boys, recreating the battle of the Little Bighorn. Great fun!

Looks like a lot of fun. The wagon train ambush looks neat too.

This was loads of fun to read, and a handsome game as well!

"Gun shots rang out as dead men dropped to the ground and the thuds of arrows as they landed in peoples chests could be heard all around."

I think your son has a future in the pulp genre. thumbs up

Terrific report and well done explanations by your son.

I especially like "my dad and I are playing with a set of rules that my brother and my dad used to play so we know the rules are fair".

Was this to satisfy a school report? He should do some grammar checking before turning it in.

Also that gray on white text is a little hard to read. Does it print out OK?

And what do the road pieces represent? A gully?

Thanks for the comments.

CeruLucifus: indeed, I will probably exert a little bit of editorial oversight here and there, but I'm keen for him to find his own voice and spot his own little mistakes! This is not for school, this is just something he enjoyed doing.

Thanks also for the queries/comments about the website more generally. We're just learning – and the Squarespace template is very flexible in some ways but less obvious in others. We probably do need to experiment with text colour etc, so constructive critical comments v welcome, either here or on the website.

I think the road pieces were just meant to be tracks.
Regards, and thanks for looking again!

Loved it. Their are a couple pics that show the hopelessness of it all. Thanks!

let me know if you are ever near the battlefield, I'm only an hour south

Yeah, gotta say I liked it. While the terrain wasn't exactly the same it did give a feel for the actual battle. Plus he used 1/72 figs which I checkedare my favorite!

Nicely done!

Thanks,

John

Nicely done, Tom!

The write-up clearly describes the events of the game, and provides an entertaining dose of gritty Western melodrama.

It may not have played out exactly the way the historical version did, but it's a heck of a lot more accurate than some Hollywood versions!
