A bit late in posting this to TMP, and ironic given that I wrote this right after seeing the film on opening night, my review of The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies: link Here there be spoilers. |

Have to agree that the best Hobbit film was the animated version from long ago. |

Fair comment, where as the LotRs was filmed in a realistic style the Hobbit relys on stupid CGI effects to ramp up the action. Seems to me that all the Hobbit films was trying to squeeze to much into the time for each episode. I did enjoy the films though, but won`t be rushing out to get the box set. 6.5 out of 10 |

Have to agree that the best Hobbit film was the animated version from long ago. No doubt. Rankin and Bass got the memo that The Hobbit was a kid's story. I still enjoy that movie now and again. |

Great review. I agree with you whole heartedly. I think that overall Jackson butchered this story. True it had great visual effects and production value, but once you look past the pretty surface there was no depth of story at all. |

Best review I've read so far. And your assessment of P. Jackson who has lost his way resonates with me since the first Hobbit movie…. |
