Which miniatures ruleset do you prefer for your zombie gaming?

RavenscraftCybernetics07 Feb 2015 9:41 p.m. PST

Dead Walk Again
(for multiplayer games)
ATZ
(for two players)

Sundance07 Feb 2015 9:52 p.m. PST

Personally, I like ATZ for multiplayer as well as solo games.

QILS, but it's my go to for lots of genres. Quick play that focuses on tactics vice gimmicks. Easy to balance (or unbalance) a scenario for a variable number of players. Though I have found that Brain Freeze is a lot of fun at parties with non-gamers.

Gaz004508 Feb 2015 7:08 a.m. PST

I've got all those mentioned above and others!….but what is QILS?

QILS. It's the first Google return for "QILS" in a "naked" search, but depending on what you search for, YMMV.

SpuriousMilius08 Feb 2015 10:42 a.m. PST

ATZ has served me very well for my modern zombie games; I used a modified version of "Mordheim" for my "Romeo & Juliet & Zombies" scenario.

Inkpaduta08 Feb 2015 11:25 a.m. PST

What does ATZ stand for and who makes it for those who aren't in the know?

Been around since 2006 when Origins Award for Best Miniatures Game.

And then March/April as a computer game.

All three versions share similar mechanics.

ATZ.Nuff said.

Ron W DuBray08 Feb 2015 2:15 p.m. PST

ATZ for open table game and Zomiezide for a board game.

ATZ final fade-out.

Dave Crowell09 Feb 2015 6:54 a.m. PST

Red Ops 5 from Rebel Minis and THW. A tighter focused version of ATZ. Clear the Zeds from an apartment complex and rescue civilians. Think of the opening of the original Dawn of the Dead.

Scorpio09 Feb 2015 11:09 a.m. PST

7ombieTV is my current fave.

Since this is a poll suggestion thread, let me also nominate No More Room in Hell.

Weasel09 Feb 2015 11:29 a.m. PST

I really really don't mean any ill intentions here, but ATZ was the only one that ever made it on our table, and that was due to the strength of the THW system, not the subject matter.

(for what it's worth we did enjoy ATZ a lot though we were pretty much all terrible at playing it and died constantly :) )

Just to add if your intrested in RPGs, Fantasy Flight Games just released a RPG Zombie end of the world rule book.

I myself haven't read it but it's sounding pretty good, You have a chance to play a charater that represents yourself, the other players they mostly vote up or down your characteristic to be as close as they can as to being you strength and weakness.

Scorpio09 Feb 2015 1:42 p.m. PST

I'm also looking into trying out Zed or Alive, the Savage Worlds Showdown zombie game, so let's nominate that as well.

ATZ

If you add the supplements, the ATZ gaming universe is pretty deep.

Mein Zombie from Old Dominion Gameworks- link

Easy to learn, easy to play. It has been a big crowd pleaser at Historicon the last few years

Grown fond of Zombicide myself and my lady also likes it.

Thanks for the mention, Scorpio. I'd love to hear what you think of it! I'm not sure if it's been posted on these forums yet, but the Zed or Alive rulebook is now available via our website. zedoralive.com

Definitely Zombicide. Always a fun game and easy to change bits if required. A lot of scenarios as well.
