Hi all, Not a naval gamer and not a VBCW gamer (though I do want to try it after the other dozen projects!)
I was just reading an article in Miniature Wargames about VBCW and it mentioned naval guns supporting the forces in Liverpool. Got me thinking that there doesn't seem to be much played in terms of naval games for this, which given how important the navy is to Britain is strange. Does anyone play naval games and if not why not?

IIRC the Navy pretty much all went to one side in the source books. The RAF chose the other side. No reason you couldn't tweak it. Small civilan boats versus Naval vessels would be pretty fun though.

I agree with cloudcaptain's comments.

My VBCW take on it is that the Royal Navy sides with the Anglican League and is heavily engaged in opposing the independent minded Scots and protecting its base at Scarpa Flow, whilst maintaining a presence in the English Channel to prevent support for the King from the Continent and further afield. A fleet still patrols the Med area from Gibraltar and the Far East from Singapore. It's all rather stretched but in Home Waters there remains a rump of the 'Royal' Royal Navy which is capable of inflicting a bloody nose on its opponents. And that is BEFORE the Germans, Italians, Spanish, and Commonwealth nations decide to intervene.

Happy gaming

Thanks for the responses guys, as I said it was just a curiosity after reading article….on the other hand my lead pile is starting to shrink to almost manageable levels.

Hmmmm. Think the HMS York.
