Well my ACW project is back on the front burner for a while at least. I decided ages a go to paint up a unit in greatcoats. So what other choice is there but the "28th Massachusetts"
It didn't really click about the officers Greatcoat being the wrong colour untill after I had based them. There a few conversions thrown in for good measure, just to add a bit more variety of figures.
So thanks for looking Cheers for now Russ |

Very nice. So does this mean that the Tigers are completed? |

Cheers guys Thanks 79thPA I'm trying to even up the numbers between my forces, but I am slightly biased towards my Rebs I'm afraid. ACWBill, what's it about if it's not the miniatures! and you certainly have some finely painted one's. Thanks wrgmr1, Dixon minis are lovely little figures. The fences are homemade, I love scratch building when I get the chance. My wife says its because I'm tight fisted but I get a buzz from scratch building. so thanks for the feedback and kind comments guys, it makes posting worthwhile cheers for now Russ |

Thanks tigrifsgt, the tigers should be done in the next week or so. The trousers are all done so the worst part is out of the way! so its just finishing off and then painting the flags. For some reason I have two officers one in the bed ticking trousers and I've painted the other one in red trouser? Not quite sure why but it will be easy enough to over paint the red trousers! I'm putting it down to a moment of madness! Although I was looking at uniforms for some Union Zouaves so that's maybe where it came from! |

Yes very nicely done. And I agree we are mainly for the figures and the rules and the games, oh also for the socialising, otherwise wed not even comment :) Cheers and thanks for some nice paint ups what rules do you play these to? |
bracken | 06 Feb 2015 3:21 p.m. PST |
Cheers Zargon, I must admit I collect and paint more than game these days. There never seems enough time to get everything done that I'd like to, but the rules I have are an old set of skytrex rules. They do the job nicely, when we used to play on a regular basis they where fast play rule set (home writen) down to the time constraints of adult life. They were always enjoyable games and good times |

Those are very nice indeed. Thanks for posting. Giles |

Don't worry about the officer's overcoat. They did often wear enlisted mens' overcoats as well as enlisted mens' sky blue trousers. Officers provided their own uniforms and often had to make do with what was available. |

Russ great job as usual, and I will try to PM you those pics today for the comparison we talked about. |

Can you point me out the conversions. |
bracken | 07 Feb 2015 8:24 a.m. PST |
Thanks for the feedback guys its very welcome GiloUK no problem where else to share other than TMP William Warner thanks for the info, I'd never thought of that aspect of it. It crosses my mind with my confederates but not my Union forces. Gen Phred thank you also, its took a while for me to get back to my ACW collection but the break seems to have done some good. ACW Gamer thank you also, if you need anymore photos just give us a shout. Painter jim, first two up back row left of picture and centre back row, both milliput greatcoats and cape
Next two front left and centre back, once again milliput greatcoats
I'm guessing having to point them out it means they worked out pretty well. Looking forward to seeing the pics. So thanks guys the feedback is always warmly welcomed Cheers for now Russ |

I'll say" nice job, they look great. I studied the original posted picture and could not find the conversions. |

Thanks for the compliment Painter Jim, there is also another one I missed in the first group photo to the right of the officer! I normally use greenstuff! it seems easier to use than milliput but I had run out of it so it had to be milliput. |
