I am new to the ECW period and am looking for a few suitable buildings to represent a village or part of a small town. I am aware of the Hovels range but as far as my Google fu can tell there isn't much else out there. Do any more experienced ECW gamers know better? My ideal would be pre-painted, but if I have to paint the blighters myself so be it. |

What size are your figures? |

Sorry – it was in the title but not the main body of the post. Smallish 15mm – Peter Pig. |

Sorry – it was in the title but not the main body of the post. Smallish 15mm – Peter Pig. The thread title said 15mm scale buildings not 15mm figures. If you are wanting to play games OTHER THAN skirmish (where 1 figure is 1 man) then you should look at going "one size down" for buildings. Many TMPers do this as a matter of course. So for 15mm figures you need to go fo 10mm (or even smaller) buildings. |

MajorB – thank you for your observation. Do you have any recommendations? |

Miniature Building Authority has some in their 15mm European range that would be appropriate. link JR should have some too. I don't recall who owns the company now. |

I like the Big Battalions, 15mm Black Powder Europe range from Total Battle Miniatures – they have excellent reviews: link |

Do you have any recommendations? Afraid all my buildings for ECW are homemade. |

There are quite a few pictures on my ECW blog that show Treb's set up (which is Peter Pig figures) and I believe Hovels buildings …
(Adwalton Moor) … and my own which use slightly smaller collectible ornament buildings (which I gather up whenever they go to clearance shops and similar – I reckon most were £1.00 GBP each)
(2nd Battle of Newbury) If you go by the doors, the ornament type buildings are about 10mm but suit my scaled down battlefields. Availability is a little haphazard, of course (unless you want to pay full price () If buying from wargame ranges, I'd look at the 10mm ranges … Phil ECW Battles |

The Hovels ones are "small" 15mm anyway. The small range of resin from Gladiator but now sold by someone else who I can't remember are also very good. I know that isn't very helpful- sorry. |

Does anyone know of a good book – or website – that illustrates British buildings at the time of the Civil Wars? Or should we just use Shrewsbury, Hereford, etc as examples? |

Look for N gauge (10mm) railway stuff, from companies like Timecast or SD Mouldings (ebay google search for N gauge buildings is a good start) as the footprint is more suited for anything other than 1:1 skirmish games where things like door height matter. |
