Historical fiction based on the VMI cadets involved in the Battle of Newmarket.

Feels like a made for TV movie, but it's passable. Maybe a touch revisionist (hardly any speaking character owns or is in favor of slavery, etc), but much of that is drawn from a primary source's account.

It has the twin qualities of being both shorter than Gods & Generals (aka The Neverending Story Part 2) and lacking G&G's endless speeches, but maybe makes up for that in packing in lots of cliches.

Surprised to see so many familiar faces collecting paychecks on this one: Tom Skerritt, Keith David, Jason Issacs, and David Arquette.

Anyway, recent feature-length ACW movie!

Having quickly read the first post, I wondered what David Jason was doing in an ACW film!

Still makes "Gods and Generals" look like the work of Sergei Eisenstein.

That good eh?

I assume as yet it's only on Netflix USA?

God was that awful, awful on so many levels I don't know where to begin.

Trust me, it's bad.

But on the bright side, they got the shoes back that they lost, so they've got that going for them, which is nice.

Just watched this on netflix, I usualy watch someting ACW when paitning ACW, my favorite is a little know documentary just called "civil war battles" uses footage from lots of BIG reenacment events, And ken burns documentary, and Gettysburg and glory, and if I'm really really desperate G&G, so needed something new this is not it.

The actualy move scenes are like a history channel documentary, 20 guys in a corn field/by a fence, fireing while close up camera shots, or very bad CGI, the shots of actualy fighting in any scale seems to be from a semi unrelated reenactment event…

Yup, pretty bad. Nice to see Lauren Holly is still gorgeous at 50, so it wasn't a complete loss.

Gunfreak, I like to listen to podcasts while I paint. I go with civilwarpodcast.blogspot.com. Nice 1 hour-ish chunks, which is about my limit.
