HI,

We have been playing Altar of Freedom and really enjoying it. Two rules questions that came up in our last battle. (Seven Pines)

1. Do pursuing brigades move directly forward or can they oblique in their front 45-degrees?

2. The close combat modifier for 'cover' …does that refer to field works only or is woods considered cover? Woods are also referred to as 'rough ground.' If the cover modifier does refers to woods is it only applied to the defender if both attacker and defender are in the same woods?

Any thoughts would be helpful!

thanks,
Mark Fastoso

Hi Mark--(1) Pursuing brigades are allowed to oblique forward when pursuing if there are no targets directly ahead. (2) Woods do count as +1 cover, just like field works. Defender gets the cover bonus in the woods, even if the attacker is in the same woods.
