Indeed the Laughing Monk range has several sculptors, some talented, but one of them produce women seeming to suffer elephantiasis according to their enormous swollen legs: the Lady Jane's Rifles are unfortunately (for those intereste din 18th C. female soldiers) another terrible example. |

The Image of the Valkyrie is not what most people think. I refer here not to even the athletic minx's like Risi Stevens who romped across the operatic stage in her younger years. In the real legends, before Wagner got hold of them, they were blood soaked, lascivious, foul mouthed harpies who needed no prompting as they rode over battlefields harvesting souls for Odin. I think a good sculpture of a true Valkyrie would have to bee as something as dynamic in post as Moona, in another thread. There is something terrifying about these creatures. Virginal yet lascivious, blood thirsty yet tender, they are bundles of contradictions, and whenever we have contradictions like that we are dealing with very, very ancient Gods, like Artemis, who is the protector of animals, but at the same time the master huntress. But what does she hunt? |
