Did any of the "Newbury" Rules sets make it onto your list? I'm not very familiar with them so I would not know them without Newbury being attached to the title in some fashion. |

Extra Crispy the rule set `Give them the Cold Steel` has a Yahoo group site and the rules have been greatly revised since your review. Might be worth a more up-to-date look as they have changed a great deal, they have been altered with help of experienced members on the Yahoo site. Details and the rules are also available on the Charge website which is also free. Regards |

I am not aware of any Newbury aCW rules… |

Newbury Rules published a number of sets of wargame rules to cover most periods including a set for ACW. Published in the 80s and widely used for wargame competitions in the UK. I found the Newbury system over blown, hard work and time consuming and not for me (They put me off ACW wargaming for a number of years). |

V&B falls under the "19th Century" category as do a lot of other general horse & musket rules like Black Powder, Rank & File and Zouave. (Though I have not yet written it up…so many rules so little time) |

Mac1638 – I agree. never did like them, but they do exist. Why I don't know. I believe there were ACW rules that covered large battles in addition to the "regular" rules. |

Mark easier to download the rules from Scott Mingus on the Charge magazine website. Also quick play sheet and casualty markers are there and all for free. Yahoo site is also mentioned, so all in Scott's site is the easiest way to get the rules and all for free! Regards Pete |
