Folks, with a little help from my friends I will be co-leading the annual Perryville walking tour again this May. We have expanded the event to cover two days, and have added an evening session on Saturday with noted author Stuart Sanders. For details, see my blog: ohioatperryville.blogspot.com |

Wish I could go. This battle and the saga leading to it is one of the most fascinating tales of the American Civil War. |

I agree entirely with ACWBill's sentiments |

Bragg's best campaign, perhaps? His aggression, logistical ability, and even tactical decision-making were all pretty good. If he'd concentrated his forces more effectively he could have dealt a crushing blow to Buell. (Here's a computer wargames complaint – Tiller's Campaign Chickamauga has Perryville but not Richmond or Munfordville, and though I can understand excluding Munfordville due to it being a siege, Richmond is a fascinating battle.) |

Bragg did (just prior to Perryville( what he did in every campaign, at the crucial point where victory and defeat hang in the balance …he lost confidence in himself? He seemed to lack that utter ruthlessness that marked out Lee or Jackson |
