With the release of our new Pint Sized campaign, we played out the first game last week on Lard Island. A very tense and exciting game between two very punchy forces. You can read about it here: toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=3643 And some gratuitous snaps are below.
An unusual action, not least as it is fought in a large wheat field. As it was the Paras refused to give ground and have severely weakened themselves for the second game, but they did give Jerry a bloody nose. Whether it will be bloody enough in the long term, we will have to wait and see. For those interested, you can find out about the Kampfgruppe von Luck campaign here: toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=3638 |

What sort of cover does the wheat provide and how does it affect movement. I would think visibility might be an issue also. Looks really good-kinda like an actual area that was fought over. Not the usual square chunk of door mat and a line of lichen here and there. Mark |

Hi Mark The wheat doesn't affect movement, but it does affect visibility. If you are stationary then the wheat provides light cover. If you're moving it provides no cover. We used 1944 1:25,000 maps and RAF aerial photos to create the correct terrain in the right ground scale. So all the maps are precise reflections of the real terrain. This was where the Germans ran into 12 Para's most southerly outposts. In the next game they push up to the hedgerows on the Southern face of Le Bas de Ranville, as happened in reality. Rich |

OMG! – £3.60 GBP FOR A PINT OF BEER – I am SOOOO not coming back to the UK… I can get half litre bottles of beer for the equivalent of 25 cents. I admit it's rather watery but mediocre beer I can afford is a lot better than good beer I cannot afford! Anyway – really great looking terrain and maps. |

Hi Rich, So if you're moving tactically, the wheat would still provide light cover? With so many nice maps out there, it always amazes me that folks still game on what looks like a alien landscape. |

Mark Yes mate. Still light cover. You're right about terrain. I have a plan in hand to help there. Skarper, it's £3.60 GBP in my local village pub for a pint of average beer. I paid £3.85 GBP in York over the weekend and in London its way of £4.00 GBP a pint, sometimes £5.00 GBP Bottled beer at home is much cheaper, but far less sociable. Rich |

I'm enjoying a drop of Erdinger Dunkel which I bought yesterday in the local Metro superstore. This cost me about £2.30 GBP for half a litre. May not be sociable but I'm not so sociable anyway. Typical local beer is so cheap it's actually cheaper than bottled water! |

IS that the Famous Irishman WarPanda in the background? |

No George. For some strange reason Rich never invites me over for a game! 4000 odd miles might have something to do with it :) |

I thought you might have been visiting Rich to avoid the white stuff. You mean there is an English Warpanda???? Time to copyright the name and declare infringement. |

Just played my first game of the campaign and am pleased to announce the paras got a thorough pasting. My opponent hung on too long and then got pinned by mortars before he could pull out. Not played much CoC yet, but must say I am impressed. They 'feel right' if you know what I mean. And are exceptionally unforgiving… |
