Hi guys,

I am trying to determine what type of glue is best for the 28 mm plastic figures made by Empress Miniatures (Black Powder Anglo Zulu War British Line Infantry, married Zulus, and Natal Native Contingent) distributed by Warlord Games. From reading about the different types of glue, they are specific for certain types of plastic. Does anyone know what type of plastic these figures are made of? Thank you for your time and any suggestions on type of glue.

I use superglue on everything.

You want model cement. Superglue won't work as well. The superglue doesn't have much to grip while the model cement slightly melts the plastic welding it together.

Model cement. I prefer tamiaya, but have used others just fine.

As for the plastic, it is some sort of polystyrene

Use model cement to bond the bits such as:
Plastiweld
Testors Plastic Cement (liquid not gel)
Plastruct Bondene
Tamiya Cement
Tamiya Extra Thin Cement
Tenax-7R
Mr.Hobby Plastic Cement

The plastic is the same as regular model kits, so all of the cements listed above are very good and will work great for putting the bits together. I tend to use the Tamiya Extra Thin Cement and the Tenax-7R plastic welder the most. Testors Cement (liquid) comes second.

The Tamiya Extra Thin Cement is fantastic stuff, but it will flow very easily into cracks and into model details (as it was designed to do), so it can be a little tricky to use at times until you get the hang of it.

I use Revell Contacta Professional plastic glue which works fine.

For hard plastic figures you need to use Liquid Poly.

Plastiweld or MEK. If you use them just right, you may not have to use too much, if any, putty along the arm seams, etc.

Testors liquid cement with brush – works like a charm.

What is the brand Europeans use with the long thin tube for dispensing the glue?

Us Americans don't have such convenient dispensers.

Liquied Poly comes with a brush built into the jar lid. Much more precise than any long tube.

Buy metal figures instead…

The glue used in Europe with the Long dispenser tube is
Revell Contacta.

It is pretty accurate but for really tiny pieces I, like mark has noted, use the tip of an old brush.
