As many of you may know, there is a conflict regarding this Kickstarter between Paolo Parente's Dust Studios and Battlefront. At the request of Paolo, I am posting this here. Paolo is requesting that everyone who received an invoice for this Kickstarter to scan them and send them to Dust Studios at the following email address: info@dustgame.com From Paolo: Please e-mail your invoices from your pledge manager to info@dustgame.com object: KS-BABYLON-ORDER+ your name. The total lack of transparency from BF makes so that here at Dust Studio we don`t even know if the numbers of "wave 2" minis we are producing is correct or not… We need to collect the data at first. You should have received a pdf like the sample l attach here. Help us to help you. |

If you never received an invoice, print-screen your pledge manager showing what you are due and send it to the same email address. |

Holy crap, the contract is un-redacted, showing the wholesale price to BF!!! Someone is freaking PISSED, that info is never made public like that! Financial Arrangement 1. DS will manufacture all the Products. BF will design and create the campaign book, unit cards, and packaging. The parties agree that DS is the owner of all intellectual property rights relating to the Products. All products created by BF are licensed products and are sold under the current agreement between the two companies.2. BF anticipates that it will receive money from Kickstarter between 3-10 (quoted from KS terms and trading) after the closure of the product should it be funded. Per the terms of Kickstarter, they will retain a ten percent 10% fee as an administrative and handling charge and deliver the balance of the funds to BF (the "Distributable Funds"). 3. BF will, immediately upon receipt and clearance of any Distributable Funds, distribute them as follows and in the following order of priority: (a) First, to DS, the cost at the prices show in this document for all items sold during the KS to both the public and retailers. (b) Second, 25% of the Distributable Funds will be reserved for shipping costs. The exact cost of this will be worked out after the KS ends and any residual not used will fall into the Third category. (c) Third, the remaining revenue will go to DS until such time as DS has been paid back for W9.1, W9.2 and W9.3 an amount equal to $220,009. USD The balance will be retained by BF to pay for the management of the KS. So Dust Studios should have been paid clear the hell back as soon as the pledge manager closed. Things smell … fishy. |

Essentially…Battlefront (…or Battlefraud as they have come to be known) turned a Kickstarter into a $400,000 USD ponzi scheme. A lot of folks are very angry. |

Until someone holds Kickstarter responsible this kind of garbage will continue. It's pathetic. |

I'm a fan of kickstarter….but this story sucks.. Play nice boys the spirit of KS is to get people excited about your project…%€£¥ing them over due to greed is dirty business. |

Battlefront has tasted the fruit of success and money and have become just like any other big business. Greed changes things Battlefront is not the company we once knew. |

Wow. This makes me not want to do business with BF anymore! Who else makes 1/100 UH1Ds and AH1Gs? |
LeonAdler | 05 Mar 2015 8:54 a.m. PST |
How such a simple business can be made to be quite so complex baffles me, then again I tend towards the 'make the best stuff you can and put it out there' business model and leave the marketing/mego corp poop to those who cant manage the basic business model……….amazing how many love the marketing mind you………..lol L |

@Leon: What I really liked about Flames was the packaging of a whole TO&E platoon as a single code and the availability. I could walk into just about any game store and get another platoon or two immediately, as opposed to having to have a TO&E in front of me to figure out how many packs of what weapons I'd need to buy, and then wait a couple weeks for packing and shipping. |

Lion in the Stars, Well I can see your point in that regard but I've always enjoyed the figuring out side of things and ferriting out the right stuff, part of the process for me. Different mindsets and time factors,( time spent gaming or research?). Nice when a hobby allows for all types isnt it :) L |
Lion in the Stars | 06 Mar 2015 11:13 a.m. PST |
It's kinda funny, Leon. I don't mind chasing down models for fantasy or scifi, but I really object to doing that for historicals for some reason. |
LeonAdler | 06 Mar 2015 12:36 p.m. PST |
Lion in the Stars Well with historicals you know your going to invest a lot of time working stuff out, sifting through conflicting sources and then 6 months later some awkward type writes a new book that totally debunks what you spent ages sorting lol The Carthaginian pike kerfuffle occurs to me, after I painted 148 of em……….found that they were meant to be spearmen…..after swearing a lot I did think to myself I never wanted a Macedonian army but seeing as I have the phalanx………lol I'm researching Panzer Lehr for Normandy at the moment, got it down to 3 slightly different TOEs so far……. Well I can see your point in that regard but I've always enjoyed the figuring out side of things and ferriting out the right stuff, part of the process for me. That's what I like about 20mm. I can just buy a few generic plastic boxes, and mix and match in order to ensure that my riflemen are aiming, my platoon/company runners are in movement poses, and my radio operator assistants/ammo bearers/gunner's assistants are in a standing around pose. I'm researching Panzer Lehr for Normandy at the moment, got it down to 3 slightly different TOEs so far……. Just go with whatever feels right. If your miniature force was involved in a fighting retreat, then it won't match paper strengths as men and equipment are lost, replacements are sporadic due to logistical chaos, squads and platoons become amalgamated due to severe losses or losses of officers and NCOs… |
LeonAdler | 09 Mar 2015 12:15 p.m. PST |
Rebelyell2006, Very true for 20mm WW2 stuff can be a lot of engrossing fun sorting it all out, so much available out there. Just sorting 8 wheelers at the moment, ah Pumas :) L |
