A RPG friend of mine would like tentacle models (kraken etc, not anime tentacle porn) for aquatic scenarios. He has seen the ones offered in the Conan kickstarter, but is understandably reluctant to pay $135 USD for ten tentacles (although he does admit he could use the other figures in the kickstarter which would lower the cost). A google search did turn up some $5 USD ones at Shapeways. However, does anyone know of any cheaper tentacle models, or a kit-bashing article that I can point him towards?

Thank you for your time.

Check Wyrd Miniatures Malifaux range – base inserts:

buy a cheap plastic octopus. cut off the tentacles. mount the tentacles on separate bases. paint them.

You could also cut down the octopus head and base it too.

Eh. If he's willing to consider the Conan Kickstarter, might as well consider buying Shadows of Brimstone instead. At least we already know the product quality is good there.

If he wants real cheap, cut up a plastic toy kraken.

If he wants something in between, there's always the option of getting suitable bits from the Reaper boneyard, like these, these or this.

Hi Hamster:

I have a bag of resin tentacles – each 2-4" long I'd be willing to sell or trade. They are excess bits from my Kraken model:

These could work, pre painted and not too expensive.

Thank you all for your answers. A wide range of good options. I'm sending my friend the link to this thread and he can make his choice. Thanks again!
