I'll be honest. When I read the title, I was hoping to also see Repulse and the rest of Force Z under Tom Phillips in Dec 41.

Wonderful work though

This is 1/1200 scale I gather…..makes those 6mm figures look massive

Very nice work! GHQ has very beautiful model of ships… I'd like to make one of them.

Beautiful work Vol, incredibly neat and crisp detail painting!

Yet again Vol,
She is good, oh! so good. Your ship-yard is go a hell-for-leather. Your you greasing the slip-ways or paying the Ship-Wright's overtime?

Vol, you have to tell me…how do you get the color in the windows of the stern galleries? I really like the way GHQ does those…very minute detail. I like the rigging, etc, but to me a beautiful stern gallery really makes a ship "pop" when you see it.

Excellent work, my friend!

Vol, don't tell him, to have two of you doing stern galleries better than me is not on. Well lots of you doing them better than me. One more would be to much:(

Haha! Your place in the painting hierarchy is quite safe, Rory…my painting mainly takes place in my head, while day-dreaming about it…but I do love those models!

Very nice Vol! I'm more interested in how you get the rigging that taut.

devsdoc04 Feb 2015 9:06 p.m. PST

Vol, only tell me how. The ones above will do me out of my of my "big headness" Do not tell them.

Rob and Jeff
I am so sorry that I missed answering your questions back in February (really I wasn't listening to Rory;-)

Rob, how I get color in the stern gallery windows: I thin the paint to a wash and dab it into the windows. After it's dry I dry brush or detail the frames, depending on the level of the mold detail.

Jeff, how I get my rigging tight. You probably won't like my answer. I cheat. I either replace the lower masts, as in this case, with .047 gauge music wire, or build the entire masts out of music wire. I get it at Hobby Lobby in various gauges. You can tighten the rigging against the wire and it stays that way. I also exclusively use fly tying line for rigging. It comes in all colors and weights and doesn't fuzz or sag over time.

Again guys, I am sorry for not answering you when you first asked the questions.
