I always wondered how the railroad track was laid for use as armor. Never though about it being interleaved by alternating if the base was down or up. It was worth watching just for that piece. Thanks for posting the link! |

Never though about it being interleaved by alternating if the base was down or up. The typically quick and dirty, "no time or place to roll it flat" method. I am very interested in finding out more about her structure. The images we accept of many of the purpose-built Southern warships are based on guesswork and (often) crude and/or erroneous period illustrations. |

The railroad track armor was a sad waste of a valuable commodity. The track could have been much better spent keeping supply trains running. |

I hope they can conserve and display it properly. Savannah is a great city to visit, soon there will be yet another reason to go there. |
