So I bought the Kindle version, but have yet to play these rules. Now that have been out for a while and some of the controversy seems to have died down, is anybody playing them regularly? How are they working in play? Or have they been tried and found wanting? |

We gave them a go once with mixed views. I liked them pretty well and would play them again. My friend liked them less well but he didn't break out in hives though…meaning he could give them another go. Just curious…what controversy? I did not think the rule book was organized all that well but the game played fine. |

Yes, certainly. We have played one group game so far and liked them pretty well. |

There was controversy? Do tell! |

As I recall mostly it concerned the basing scheme. Some seemed to find it utterly incomprehensible. I don't see what is so hard about Tiny, Small, Medium and Large myself. Or maybe it was that element size, figure stands per element and number of figures per stand were totally up to the players? Or was it that there was no official set figure ratio, nor were there set element to unit correspondences. So a "Tiny" element could be a patrol in one game and an understrength battalion in the next. After reading teh "Element Analysis" threads, and the review threads I almost skipped this one entirely. Apply a little common sense and don't read it with preconcieved notions of what a wargame "unit" is supposed to be and they seem just fine. |

Rules seemed to work fine to me. I have given the rules several outings and the results were reasonable and enjoyable. Scomac participated in one of the games and as he mentions above, he enjoyed the game. Just started an AWI army this past year. So far it has all been BP which we enjoy. I did pick up the kindle copy of these and now a hard copy. Based on some facebook posts I have seen it looks promising as an alternative. |

Great BatRep on Chadd's Ford, Jon. I really like seeing the way a full game plays out with LoF. I think this set offers what I have been looking for in a set of battle rules for the period. |

Dave, glad you found the BatReps useful. Stayed tuned, other BatReps will be posted as games are played. |

The rules are pretty good actually. Can't wait to have a go. I did, with the author Joe Krone, set up an Official Forum for the rules and period. Not as much response as we expected really. If interested go check it out. Promotion would be appreciated :) The LotF Forum Kurtus |
