The Helicarrier represents a pretty huge step for LEGO I think it's the biggest licensed, non-Star Wars set yet. This could be a sign that LEGO superhero sets are starting to get an audience as big as some of their other licenses. It's also the largest set to use of the "micro-fig" that first appeared in the LEGO series of games in the mid '00s. One of the only non-game sets to do so IIRC.

The Brickmania kits are not a LEGO Group product, but are custom kits from LEGO fans that acquire the pieces necessary and then put out a line of vehicles. They're quite expensive per-piece, but really well done. I've seen most of the range in person.
