Remembering Marx WOW Figures

If you were a kid in the 1960s who loved history and toy soldiers, you probably had a WOW figure!

While the Blue Moon line of figures is great, it is not complete.

I'd love to see some British Legion foot added.

I'd also like to see 16th Light Dragoons on Tarleton helmets too.

Some dismounted cavalry for both 16th and 17th would be nice as well.

Others?

A personality pack for both sets of generals would be nice too. :-)

Winter figures. I wish B M had finished out their F&I line with some Rangers, Canadian Militia and Indians in overcoats and winter clothing.

Just the other day I was looking at the line. It seems the line is for the Northern campaigns? I like the Southern campaigns. Are BM figures good for the South, or do they have holes to plug there? (Forgive my ignorance. I'm coming back to the AWI after a 10 year hiatus, so my knowledge of troops and uniforms has become fuzzy. Sigh.)

For the South:

dismounted light dragoons for both sides
British Legion infantry
Queen's Rangers cavalry
Lee's Legion cavalry and infantry
mounted militia (usable for both sides and far more common in the South than the North)
Cherokee Indians (okay, not really necessary, but as long as I'm wishing …)grin

Mounted and dismounted dragoons.

all the above plus marching militia and a re-make of the mounted British generals pack, the existing one for some reason seems to be in a different scale !!

Some decent horses.

historygamer30 Jan 2015 11:49 a.m. PST

Yeah, I was painting some BM horses last night and they looked like ponies. They need some remounts for sure. :-)

Maybe the smaller horses represent the sickly horses after the long journey to get to Philly in 1777.

It is funny how figure companies doing AWI will concentrate on the 17th Light Dragoons – which makes no sense since the 16th Light Dragoons were the ones fighting during the Philly campaign and at Monmouth. Of course the 17th LD were used extensively in the southern campaigns – though seemed to shrink over time compared to the British Legion and Queen's Rangers.

Oh, BM should also come up with mounted militia too.

Russ, this line is not complete by a long shot. :-)

The 16th also captured Lee and were heavily engaged at Princeton.

Te 17th were at White Plains, and did a lot of raiding around NYC in the '77-'79 period (they also turned the Old South Meeting House into a riding school – naughty boys!).
