Seems Hezbollah and their Iranian backers are getting pay back for the dead Hezbollah fighters and Iranian commanders – 2 Israeli soldiers and 1 Spanish peacekeeper have been killed and more Israelis wounded.

That is one of the main stories CNN & FOX are talking about. With all that is going on in the area/region … I don't think Hezbollah and Iran want to give the IDF any reason to invade Syria. Which is unlikely, but who knows ?

Israel doesn't have the capability to invade Syria. We're talking about a large country of 22 million people. The terrain is far more treacherous than the Sinai in 1967, the IDF has downsized and the situation in Syria is chaotic.

I suspect a minor intervention in Lebanon is more likely. Though that didn't work out too well for the Israelis in 2006 and was quite a humiliation for Israel in terms of military performance and lack of goals achieved.

minor intervention
That is what I meant, a cross border raid. Not an outright invasion. But yes, the 2006 cross border op did not go as planned.

I think all parties will continue to do what they do well, and not let this escalate into a full-scale war as nobody is prepared for one.

Isreal will continue to bomb and hit targets with artillery;

Hezbollah will shoot rockets and try to kidnap IDF soldiers;

Iran and Syria will continue to arm Hezbollah and bomb soft targets elsewhere in the world.

Pretty much business as usual in the Middle East. Lets everyone claim "victory".

I think the Syrians have their hands full right now to try any international shenanigans! :P

But I garee it's business as usual.

Yep … and it goes on and on and on …
