When I wrote my WSS rules for Black Powder, I didn't mention the "Heavy Cavalry" rule for Cuirassiers and Cavalry (Cavalry use the Heavy Cavalry stats from page 176, Dragoons use the standard Cavalry Regiment) I can't remember if I left it out on purpose, as this is early H&M, or whether it's a omission. Any ideas- Would cavalry of the period, even those who had eschewed pistols and preferred the charge, gain the sort of advantages their later compatriots in SYW and Napoleonic get? |

They would have a greater impact, but not the same as Swedish cavalry of the same period, although they don't have kuirass. So I would imagine a difference between what could be called shot as opposed to shock. Just my 2p worth Jon |

Swedish cavalry did wear the cuirass. See: link |

"Swedish cavalry did wear the cuirass." Except those many who threw them away! Seriously, I don't think that it would be correct to automatically rate cavalry who wore cuirasses higher than those who did not. Were the English and Dutch horse more powerful after they adopted cuirasses in 1707? I think not. The fact that the troopers did not like them (and this was the case with the French, too, up through the SYW) would seem to show that they did not see any great benefit from them. Indeed, Swedish dragoons held up well against Saxon cuirassiers. |

Except those many who threw them away!I suspect this was the case with the Danes and Saxons as well.
