Hello,

getting into 6mm, and I'm leaning towards Heroics and Ros currently due to price and living in Europe.

Could you guys post pictures of your World War 2 stuff from H&R?

Do an image search Heroics & Ros Tanks and you will get enough pictures to keep you going for a while

Done and done.

I loved Heroics and Ros in the 1970s because they made everything, including limbered and unlimbered guns, and all to a more constant scale (at that time) than GHQ/CinC. Here are some recent images, showing my very basic paint jobs from that time. FWIW, I recommend no bases for vehicles, and thin unobtrusive bases for the infantry. Otherwise, one sees rectangles and circles from normal viewing distance, rather than tanks, guns, and people.

Forgot this one, showing H&R 25 pounder guns with tractor and limber, showing some sample deployments. Also came with addtional gun on turntable, not shown. Gun crews are H&R as well, and again, one can paint these much more elaborately if one wants to. Note the quad tractor and limber have little hooks, which engage with the thing being towed (added with wire and epoxy).

BTW, even today, the overall shape of the H&R Crusader and A13 is better than that of GHQ, even though the latter is far more detailed.

I have a few H&R pieces in my rather varied collection.

I think pretty highly of H&R infantry figures. I think very highly of the variety of poses available, and the sturdiness of the figures. I also think very highly of the H&R artillery and gun crew figures, which I find very useful.

Contrary to many gamers/collectors, I don't hesitate to mix and match vendors when the figures / models seem to work well together, so you will see mixed units and even mixed stands in my collection.

H&R BA-10 and BA-64 armored cars, here painted in Romanian colors (Romania operated a fair few A/Cs that they received from the Germans, or captured themselves).

Romanian AT guns. The "Malaxa" tow tractors are H&R (French Chenillettes), and the gun crews are H&R. The Bofors 37mm AT guns are GHQ.

H&R French 75's and horse limbers. The extra crewmen seated on the caisson were from the spares bin, and are GHQ.

The same French 75's, in firing position. Gun crews and guns are H&R. The radio operator on the command stand is Scotia, the other two figures are H&R. The LMG team is GHQ, not H&R.

A different battery of French 75's in firing position. These guns are the modernized 75's with solid wheels and pneumatic tires for vehicular towing. Guns and crews are H&R.

Supply wagons from the H&R German line, painted to serve my Romanians, French or Russian armies. (Horse wagons are often neglected by WW2 gamers, but were VITAL to many WW2 armies.)

French 25mm AT guns. Guns, crews, and Laffly scout cars are all H&R.

Soviet infantry fighting German StuG-B's. All are H&R.

Soviet 122mm Howitzer battery in action. Guns and crews are H&R.

Hope that helps.

Although not specifically requested in the original posting, if you build a WW2 force you might want some air support too. So here are some H&R aircraft from my collection:

The BA65, Italy's answer to the Stuka! (More like a Fairey Battle wannabe…)

Italian BR10Ms, to add a little weight to the bombing!

Fighter coverage is provided by my Macchi C200 Saettas.

My French forces get cover from Dewoitine D.520 fighters.

My Red Army forces get cover from I-16s.

While Pe-2s do the bombing.

My US Army forces travel in style in C-47s (DC-3 Dakota in the catalog)

My US L-4 Grasshopper. I just LOVE the way this one came out! One of my very favorite micro aircraft!

So don't forget the flyboys. They add a touch of class to an otherwise dismal war.

hello bpmasher
If you would be interested I have some H&R stuff for sale. I started out with the 6mm hobby a few years ago I had a mix from H&R and GHQ. For personal reasons I stuck to GHQ and as the difference in scale (1/300 – 1/285) is too obvious I decided now to sell my H&R models. Most are unpainted.
Mail me at "sixmilbuildersAToutlookDOTcom" for more info and pics.

Good looking stuff guys.

I'm going to get me some H&R for larger battles.

Nice collection, Mark. Have you tried making some of the Romanian home built odds and end tank destroyers?

Have you tried making some of the Romanian home built odds and end tank destroyers?

I have not. The TACAM TDs (on the R2 / Skoda chassis or captured T-60 chassis) are possibilities. But I think if I do go further into kit-bashing I'll try the Romanian Renault R35 with the Russian 45mm jammed into extended turrets first.

So far, though, I've focused on the bits and pieces that are available by various vendors for other armies. So my Romanian force has it's R2 tanks (GHQ Pz 35t's) for early war, and StuGs and a few Pz IVH's (provided in limited numbers by the Germans) for late war.

In truth, the Romanians didn't operate much armor at all after Stalingrad and before they switched sides in the summer of 1944. So my mid-war force is mostly reliant upon AT guns and artillery. I have the French 75s shown above, and Skoda M14 100mm howitzers (from the GHQ Italian line). For AT guns I have the 37mm Bofors above (from the GHQ Polish line) for 1941, 47mm Bohler guns (from the H&R Italian line) for 1942 and 43, and 75mm Pak 97/38s (from the CinC German line) for 1943 through 45. H&R also makes the 75mm M43 Resita Romanian AT gun, but I do not (yet?) have any of those.
