I got a pot of this to paint my WWII Italians' uniform. To my eyes there is not even a trace of green in there, it's just dark grey. Am I partially colour blind, did I get a bad batch, or is it meant to that colour??

I find with some Vallejo paints you have to give them a really good shake and mix to get the colour as described.

I find it has green. How well did you shake the bottle -- I pull the top off and drop a small sinker in to ensure that that when I shake the paint it is thoroughly mixed.

Gave it a quick shake, then stood it upside down for a while. I'll shake it to death and see how it goes

Heating the bottle under warm water for a bit before shaking it to death (I'm there too, Shardik) helps as well.

Mine (3 bottles) also seem to be only grey with not even a shade of green.

Will try some of the above fixes.

The bottle I have is definitely a subtle greenish grey. Are you looking at it in daylight?

I had the similar problem once, with another Vallejo paint, that came out of one of their paint sets that must've sat around for a while.

One of the few complaints I have about Vallejo paints, is that if they sit around for a while without being used, you really have to shake them up to get them mixed up well. I went out and bought a paint shaker from Hobby lobby or how the link I don't remember which, for about 30 bucks. 30 seconds to a minute on that sucker, and the paints ready to go. One of the better investments I made in this hobby.

There is no problem here. 866 Grey Green is a grey.

886 Green Grey is a green.

I've found that when they dry the shade chanes a bit.

866 Grey Green is a grey.

Of course

Lol….sorry m8, no idea where the rest of my post went.

866 Grey Green does indeed have a green hue if you were to place it next to many of the other Vallejo Greys but it is very subtle. You could perhaps try mixing a little Olive Grey (888) into it as a shade and a little Medium Grey (987) or Green Grey (886) as a highlight.

Or even mix your own by adding one of the Yellows to black.

It's a grey base, but it is definitely green-grey when compared to a true neutral grey.

If you're just looking at it with no frame of reference it just looks grey.

thanks guys. I warmed it up and shook it and tried a sample on some paper, and if you look really hard you can convince yourself that there if a miniscule trace of green. Question is, is that what Italian uniforms looked like? If they were visibly more green than that, I might try mixing in a bit of fieldgrey
