Hi Chaps, I've seen a few people here in the UK using some rather natty flight stands for their games, featuring dials for altitude and speed, such as the ones shown here: TMP link I've seen such items advertised on the other side of the Atlantic, but nothing over here. I don't want extending stands – just simple sticks about 4cm or so tall, that I can stick a magnet onto. Bases need to be hex-shaped, with each flat side being approx 2cm across (4cm corner-to-corner). I'd need two dials (speed and alt), or a single dial with two 'needles' of two different colours. So can anyone help? |

Hi Fatman, Thanks a lot, those look 95% like what I need. I wonder if they do dials with fewer numbers (say 1-6) and do packs of extra dial pointers…? |

Hi RMD, Those flight stands are from 'Fights On!' and were available from Heroics in the UK. Not sure of current availability – contact them. Their Fights On pdf on their website is out of date as well. I got some but I was a bit disappointed with them: I think a vital piece was missing for the centre plug so the stand wouldn't stay upright. I've got some Litko stands and am pretty pleased with them. I got some dials with 1 to 10 counters on and they're pretty good, and I got them from the UK Litko stockist. The acrylic rod stands also fit well – no wobble. I found a good way to join the acrylic rods as well: use 3mm clear plastic tubing, the sort you use for fish tank air supply. A 2m strip was a quid, from t'internet as well. You only need about 2cms and you can join two rods together. I've even put 1/300th B-17s on a couple of joined rods. |
