This could be a genre, a scale, or even a feature. Something you have an unreasoning hatred of painting. Mine is horses. I hate painting horses for some reason. Almost all of my cavalry was painted for me by someone else. I don't even know why I hate painting them, but it's a nightmare. They don't come out badly when I paint them. They aren't difficult, technically. I. Just. Hate. It. |

Not hate so much as dislike: irregular troops. Continental Militia, Confederates, Vikings, basically any units that won't have a solid "uniform" choice. The main reason is that in order to get an "authentic" feel I tend to paint my units in multiple colors to represent the fact that many units didn't have standardized uniforms. So fro ACW Rebs I'll paint a few units in Confederate gray, some in Butternut, then I'll have some that have bits of their uniforms in gray or butternut, then some guys who will have black, red, blue, or geen bits of uniform or kit as well as the the stock gray and brown. Blankets will be all sorts of colors including a few homemade quilts. Even if I set up an assembly line or process for each color its a pain. I find the effect worth it. |

Horses, who actually enjoys painting horses? Second to that are irregular barbarian types. So you can imagine how much fun Gallic Cavalry are…. |

Belts and straps and scabbards and horses' harnessing. And hooves: a while ago I did a batch of 44 15mm Tibetan cataphracts, so 176 small hooves. Pretty tedious. |

Horses for me as well. And shame on me, as after humans they have been among the next biggest victims of war. |

Mounted troops that can dismount: gotta paint the horse, the rider, and the dismounted rider. Three times the work of an infantryman. |

I'm struggling with this thread as I kind of enjoy it all. I find painting horses enjoyable … sort of all gain, no pain as it's easy to do and the results are satisfying (you don't have to work quite so hard for good results) .. I guess my pet hate is *second rate figures* – I'm prepared to go the extra mile and put a lot of work in finishing the models. I do find it soul destroying to put that work in on something that will never look any good because it is basically rubbish. Phil |

Horses, because of the traces. I think I go in spurts, though. Everything takes it turn getting painted then becomes something I hate to paint for a while. |

The tack is the least bothersome part of painting a horse to me, personally. As far as something I find frustrating… plaids, checks, and pinstripes are tough. And as for eyes – I usually just don't paint them. Somehow, whenever you look at most of my figures, they seem to be blinking. Odd, that. Looks like our options so far are: Horses Faces Plaids and checks Tires Artillery limbers Spoked wheels Eyes Straps and belts Camouflage Irregular troops |

World War II. I love the genre but for some reason the thought of sitting down to paint 100+ figures in virtually the same color scheme sends me right to the liquour. Every WWII army I own, I purchased painted. Can't even stand the thought of painting them myself. |
