I managed the finish both the uptown highclass area of my city with a number of scratch build high rises made of Mega Blocks( a cheap sort of Duplo knockoff) and the lowdown, dirt poor slum area known as Junker Town.

Those Mega Blok buildings are very impressive. Please provide a bit more info on how you did that. I don't even see the joints between the blocks. |

Allen57, The cracks are there, kinda hidden as the bottom of the windows. Pretty strategically placed to indicate floors and apartments. And those look perfect for my Macross City!!! |

Those just look really amazing!!! Thanks for sharing your pics. Are you using matboard for the streets, or perhaps painted MDF, or a similar material? Do they still make Megablox, and if so, who sells them? Haven't looked in the kiddie aisles for quite some time now, so am not up on that subject. |

@ Allen57 & haywire Haywire's right it's mainly in the placement of the windows. If you look closely at the three buildings on the right you can see that on the one in the middle, which was my first test piece, I put the windows in the center of each block making the lines much more obvious. @ Mako The streets are actually three binders painted over with magnetic paint and the sidewalks are made from magnetic paper and all the buildings have been magnetised too. Here's a few pics and there's more on the blog link
As for the Megablocks, I bought them at a Fun toystore but most of the other stores have them to, just make sure you get the duplo copies not the other ones. |
