We are planning a move to Tucson are there any hobby shops in the area. I was Just out there and did find anything but card and war hammer stuff.

I am not sure about Tuscon but Tempe has the Game Depot and the Hobby Depot, both of which are quite close to one another. The Game Depot has your board/miniatures games, FOW, 40k, X-Wing etc and Hobby Depot is plastic kits, trains, and paints/supplies. Both are highly recommended. I haven't been to Hobby Depot in a few months but I feel like they are trying to make a little bit of a push to grow their business. I think they are a tiny bit expensive but I usually sucked up the extra couple of bucks to support a local mom and pop. I believe they still provide a loyalty card which gives $10 USD off/credit after you spend $100. USD Game Depot has quite a few events like X-Wing and Magic. They also stock a small selection of Perry Minis, Plastic Soldier Co, Warlord, and Wargames Factory. The owners are nice and provide lollipops to the younger patrons! Tempe is only 45-60 minutes up from Tucson so not too bad a drive. I believe there may also be a Games Workshop store up in Scottsdale which would add another 30 minutes to your drive. There is also Empire Games in Mesa and Outpost Games in Glendale both towns being part of the Phoenix Metro area. I have no experience with either though I think Empire may stock the Army Painter line of products. Obviously there are the more consumer/craft oriented shops like Michael's and Hobby Lobby which I suspect reside in Tucson as well.
I like Tucson. It certainly has a quiet desert charm that the Phoenix metro area is somewhat lacking, in my opinion. Not sure how familiar you are with the area but there is a local sandwich chain called Eee-Gees(or EGs?). Basically Sub-Way/Jimmy Johns but with its own twist like fries and their signature flavored icey beverages(which I think are called EGs). Pleasantly low brow dining! :)
Welcome to AZ!

The short answer is not really. My favorite shop was Things for Thinkers – they closed up a while ago. Hat's Games on the south side has FoW, Warhammer and War machine/ Hordes and board games. I haven't been there in a while so I can't speak to what their current stock is like. It looks like they have a Bloodbowl league running. Also lots of RPG stuff.

Amazing Discoveries in midtown caters mostly to the card and RPG crowds but they do have a decently stocked selection of paints and painting / modeling supplies.

There is also a GW Shop up in Oro Valley.

There used to be a small historicals group in town – not sure if they are still active. I' m mostly a painter though I manage to talk my kids into an occasional THW or SoBH scenario for family game night.

On the bright side, you do get to know your local UPS driver / mail carrier pretty well scratching that minis itch and we do have Egees!

Welcome to the Old Pueblo!

…we also have a couple Michael's stores a Hobby Lobby and a HobbyTown – mostly serving the RC crowd.

Another shop for the list. Really nice place

isle of Games- located on the east side of Tucson. Lots of board games. Decent selection of minis (mostly fantasy / sci fi ) manager seems to be working really hard to build the business.
