Any suggestions for making snow covered bases for 28MM? I'm planning on painting figures for the Baltic Crusades, when campaigning was easier in the winter when the ground was frozen.
Thanks

I am expecting 3ft of snow today I don't want any even in 28mm even though it would be easier to shovel :)

Glass microspheres from a chandlery. Couple of quid/dollars for a big bucket which will last you forever.

Mix up a paste with water/white glue/spheres and scatter it about. More glue = slush. Less liquid = fluffy snow.

Do **NOT** get the stuff in your eyes.

I use the commercially available snow from scenic effects and put it on with white paint.

It comes out like this:

Good slushy snow can be made by mixing white glue with woodland scenics snow, brushing it on, and then while that's wet, sprinkle more snow on and flick off the excess.

Put celluclay on the base. It dries a bit grayish. Then drybrush with white. I did all my Retreat From Moscow figures like that and got many compliments…

Baking Powder? Is there nothing Baking Powder can't do?
Thanks all, lots to think about!

Stripper glitter and salt…..trust me, it works.

Plus the baking powder will keep your mini's smelling fresh!

Where does one get stripper glitter?

BAking powder might be the very thing we need for a Demo game next year. We have a 'winterified' village, but don't really want to make the figure bases permanently 'wintered'….unless anyone has any better ideas for temporary snow?
