Must say I thought that pkatform cars had four wheels and saddle cars two. Generally chariots have their wheels a the back of the cab or in the middle. If you have the wheels at the front then the weight of the crew would lift the yoke off the mule's back which would make it difficult to pull along. Has anyone a source that shows a chariot set up this way? |

Must say I thought that pkatform cars had four wheels and saddle cars two. No, I think "platform car" is usually used for two-wheelers: see linkBut I agree that the front-mounted axle seems a bit odd: see link (the drawing accessible at bottom left may be clearer than the photo). |

Two wheels on my wagon, but I'm still rolling along… Looks like it is just missing the rear wheels. |

yes, very odd. It is unbalanced and not indicative of those carts seen in sources. The wheels should be in the centre. I think it is just an easy conversion for Essex just to chop the rear wheels off the back of the battle wagon to come up with this inaccurate model. |

I'm impressed that a Sumerian General can't afford a shirt! link |

Essex are normally very good. This is just silly really. |

The Libu javelin men are very nice with 4 variant poses and textured animal skin capes that will dry brush nicely. They are similar in size and style to the later generic figures from the BS range and simply dwarfed by the later Egyptian chariot horses They would do just as well as early highland tribesmen (Guti, Lullubi) etc and should sell in far greater numbers than the platform cars. Hopefully we might see a release of some more early warriors in animal skin kilts and/or linen kilts with headbands and rectangular shields (5mm x 7mm) with wicker texture which will along with these figures would see good service as enemies, allies and auxiliaries to the Sumerian range. |
