Received my latest copy of "The Foreign Correspondent" and turned to the back page and saw Gringos latest releases – figures for the Garribaldi era. Not my period, but the figures are absolutely brilliant. If you haven't seen them and fancy a new period, then you should look at them. Stunning. Also saw the Sean Connery film "The Wind and the Lion" (think that's what it was called) and it reminded me of that bother fabulous Gringos figure, featuring Connery himself as the Arab Sheikh. Again, a lovely figure. DavejL |

I have to agree! Lovely figures and you never know what's coming next…. |

As much as I like surprises, it would be nice to know that what's coming next is the rest of the figures needed to complete a particular range. |

That's actually, "You likee speechee?" Marvelous film that no war gamer can miss, and though nearly 40 years old now(!), it still speaks as it did then, and has had only increasing relevance ever since. Sheer bliss! TVAG

Ged, I love you and your figures -- but if you are really planning to complete -- or even significantly expand -- your Maximillian range, I will love you even more. Any chance this expansion will include additional Foreign Regiment (aka: Legion) officers to stand in for Lts. Maudet & Villain at Camerone…? PS. More character figs to go with The Raisuli would be awesome too! @Terrement: that is indeed one of the best lines in one of the best films ever made! |

Wind and the Lion additions are on the drawing board as are Piedmonte 1860 not so far off you beloved legion with Kepis,Frockcoats etc………1860/1861 will be covered in detail both in Mexico,Sicily and Naples!! regards Ged gringo40s.com gringo40s.blogspot.com

Hi Ged, Anything I can do to help "grease the wheels" re: more Legionnaires to defend my Hacienda de la Trinidad I'll do without hesitation, so -- with apologies to davejl for hijacking his thread… Sous Lieutenant Jean Vilain, who assumed command upon the death of Capt. Danjou. A good pose for his sculpt would be with sword in hand, since your Danjou figure is wielding a pistol and after Danjou's death Vilain is said to have pointed his sword at the sun and called out to remind the remaining men of the oath they had earlier sworn to their Captain to fight to the death:
Sous Lieutenant Clement Maudet, who assumed command upon the death of Lt. Vilain. A good pose for his sculpt would be with rifle in hand, as he is recorded as having used one during the battle, including the final charge, which he led with rifle in hand:
This last one is a copyrighted image from the 1983 MAC COY graphic novel "Camerone" written by J.P. Gourmelen and illustrated by A.H. Palacios, with Lieutenant Maudet at the center in the ragged shirt. I post it here only as a piece of inspiration:

You have made me go weak at the knees, you naughty devilish rascal . All l can think of is your brooding masculinity and wicked smile . Stan had to help me up from the kitchen floor. I admire the unique range of literary characters. Please could you add to this with the Count of Monte Cristo as he reminds me of someone. Once again you leave the "bread and butter " companies in your wake. Putting pleasure before profit has made Gringos the Picasso of creativity . Cheerio Olive xxx |
