I finished up my Greek and Ottoman fleets around the holidays. Here are some photos, ships are Navwar:

Nice! I see you mention the rules you used…never heard of them. Is there a link somewhere? And is there some sort of book that gives info on this naval side of the Balkans War?

Darryl: The ruleset (When Dradnoughts Ruled the Seas) was designed by a gamer in my area (Northern Virginia) who is part of NOVAG: novag.org

They are fast-play (about 4 pages of rules with scenario-specific rules included for that particular battle), and have been used at various HMGS conventions. I had never played them before but learned the rules in a turn or two and had a blast. Email me at: lecoqfou at gmail dot com if you want more information about the rules.

As for books, etc. I first read about the battle in an old Military History article about the interesting story of the Greek flagship. Additionally, this book gives some info: link also the wiki article is pretty good: link

Additionally, online you have: link

Very nice. Trying to build these in 1/2400 but will take time

They really do look fantastic, and it has me itching to start a new pre-dread project.

I just have one question though, the Hydra class seem to be missing the aft turret, did it disappear in a modernization I donīt know about?

Prince Alberts Revenge24 Jan 2015 6:07 a.m. PST

Jack: don't think so regarding modernization (and I did notice that omission of the rear turret). Must be part of the "nuance" of Navwar sculpting. I find painting these ships to be similar to my experience painting Irregular' s 6mm range…a lot of it is impressionistic painting and some is abstract. I was wondering if that little square thing in the back is supposed to be the turret but it seems too small and shaped odd for a turret.

Texas Jack24 Jan 2015 7:26 a.m. PST

Yeah, I was wondering about that little square as well! I have hundreds of Navwar, so I definitely know what you are talking about. The funnels are in the right place though, and regardless of the turret, you did a great job painting them up and I am sure they will do themselves proud in their fight against the Turk!
