There were too many to pick just one, but I always liked Carter. Schultz was a favorite, of course. But I met LeBeau once, when he came to talk at my high school. Still have his autograph around here somewhere. |

Cpl LeBeau, The actor was also a holocaust survivor, plus his character was a good cook. |
Sundance | 22 Jan 2015 5:17 p.m. PST |
Yes, that's why he came to talk at our school – as a holocaust survivor. He's actually a Polish Jew. |

Thanks Sundance, glad you got to met him. I also think he is the only cast member still alive. |

Major Hochstetter (Favorite quote from him: "Baaaahhh!" And second favorite quote: "Klink, who IS this man?"). By the way, Howard CAINE played the high-strung major… |

1. Cpl. Louis LeBeau (Robert Clary) A good cook. 2. Col. Wilhelm Klink (Werner Klemperer) did a great job of being mercurial. 3. Sgt. Hans Schultz (John Banner) always looking for food. |

I liked Newkirk. "A piece of pie''. |
enfant perdus | 22 Jan 2015 7:09 p.m. PST |
Kinch. A black USAAF SSgt who is able to insinuate himself into a Luftstalag? The improbability of that backstory points to a mastery of spy craft. Also, I thought it was funny how he would impersonate the German brass (including Hitler) over the radio and telephone. |

General Burkhalter,"Klink how vould you like to go somevhere ,vhere they are all named Ivan ,vear fur coats and shoot at you"? "What time shall I pick up your sister Herr General?" |

Yep, Helga for me as well, since at the time I was an adolescent. Of course, there are lots of other superb characters in that show as well. |

Could this show even exist today? I haven't seen it in reruns in years. Might have something with that movie about Bob Crane. |

Reruns are on again, at least in my area. |

Schultz or Klink, who can decide between two such great characters. |

I proposed to my wife while Newkirk was shuffling the cards when the show was coming on. I'm just a hopeless romantic. One more for Newkirk. |

I want to write-in Jerry Fielding, who composed the show's memorable theme music: Hogan's Heroes March. When I was a kid, I liked Schultz. Ron |

Hochstetter. He knew something was going on. He just couldn't navigate the politics sufficiently to prove it. "this man is the most dangerous man in Germany! what is he doing here!?" Sergeant Kinchloe is close second. He was the only man Hogan could completely trust. The show wasn't the same after he escaped. |

Helga had better legs but Schulz was the more interesting character in my insignificant opinion. |

My two favorites have always been Colonel Klink and Sergeant Schultz. They had a terrific chemistry together on screen. Both, ironically, were immigrants from Germany/Austria who served in the U.S. military during WW2! |

Col. Wilhelm Klink (Werner Klemperer)always reminds me of the real life promotion system within the military. He is a shining example…should be an MI Colonel! |
