Because that's the character. They are loved characters for a reason, they are iconic for a reason.
Changing that is simply foolish and makes no sense.

Not that it matters in this case. The costume colors are wrong. If you don't understand why muted colors are wrong, then you don't understand superheroes at all. Messing up that very basic detail shows clearly how poor their ability to write any sort of story will be.
