rLooking for post 1916 color, some go for green/grey/brown stuff, some for more brown beige. Im looking for triads that look good, preferably from coat d arms, as i have most of them. |

With Coat d'Arms, I would recommend a deep green brown as your shade colour. Perhaps 521 Army Green or 508 Oliver Drab with a brown wash. Intermediate colour would be 225 Khaki, not 501 British Khaki as this looks more like the WW2 colour. Highlights with 517 Desert Yellow with a tiny amount of Khaki mixed in. WW1 uniforms had more of a greenish khaki than the definite browner version in WW2. Robert |

Yes, hence the need for the base colour. I use a blending technique, which relies on a watered down colour for the next layer. Typically two or three coats are needed in quick succession to get the colour that you are happy with. It will also depend on the scale. 15mm or below is best with lighter colours anyway. I am not familiar with the Coat d'Arms range and had to work off the online colour chart. Hopefully the principles behind the choice will be helpful though. Robert |

I ended up mixing browns and greens and browns and kakis. Still to light green for me, look like just kaki shades. |
