We've had two weeks on the trot now testing our Grand Tactical version of the forthcoming Boer War rules. Colenso last week and then an attack on the Rangeworthy Heights last night. You can find the game report here:

And here's a couple of snaps

The great news is that we are now out for public playtest on these, so we are well on the road to getting these published. Possibly an insane dream in view of how popular the period is.

Yay Richard, I know its not popular 'yet' but give it time, I'm off to peruse some 10 mm Brits and Boers :)
Cheers en Baie Dankie Boet.

"Baie Dankie Boet " Lol !

Which translated into english means "Thank you very much brother"

And yes, this Sarfie also wishes to express his heartfelt thanks to Richard.

Lekker man, lekker ! ( very cool !)

PS: @ Zargon : I also have my eyes on some 10mm figures.

Fear not, this Rhodesian can praat die taal!

It's a really interesting war, and, from a technical perspective, a difficult one to model. However, we have spent about six years considering it, and I reckon we have nailed it. The game doesn't leave the Boers stuck in hill tops firing until they are over run. It provides a real challenge for both sides.

Look forward to these rules. I have been doing the 2nd Boer War for years using "Fields of Honor" Battalion/Commando scale. Would like to try something else.

I just ordered some 6mm from Baccus in anticipation of these rules….I was watching the first episode of an Aussie show about Gallipoli and these look like they would work well for the first few days of that battle as well!
