Hi, everyone. After doing a lot of AB 18mm figures, I thought I needed a change of pace. A couple of years ago I bought the Perry plastic French Heavy cavalry. I've just completed the first 3 figures. So here's the question: Do you use the bases which come with the figures or do you replace them with another type of base? Thanks for your input! Regards, John |

I put them on metal bases, like all the rest of my figures. The plastic bases aren't so bad for the plastic figures but if you want uniformity they really fall down with metal figures depending on how you base them. Especially for cavalry. |

I see people use the bases that come with the figs, but you can easily use other bases. For example, one of my buddies uses these laser cut MDF bases that he uses for all his 28mm Napoleonic figs. |

I found the plastic bases are fine . I use both the Victrix and Renedra. Both take filler really well to disguise the figure bases the models come with . |

I used 25mm frontage for both plastic French hussars and metal French cuirassiers. Personnally I always use mdf bases. I think the plastic bases are fine for plastic minis but not for metals: and I want the basing style to be consistent across units. so, pretty much the same message as Pictors! |

You can use the plastic bases but they lack a little in depth; so if you are having 2 ranks you need to exercise some care to ensure the front of the second rank doesn't collide with rear of the first. |

Pictors Studio; please describe your metal bases (thickness etc.) and where do you obtain them. This may also help answer the original question. Thanks |

I get mine from Precision Wargame Supplies. The bases are 1 mm thick, take a look for yourself at link Perfect service by the way. |

I get mine from Wargames Accessories. They are about 1 mm thick. They are sturdy, almost indestructable in fact. They also stick to magnets, which is how I transport my stuff around. |
