Reason being is I fell into a large amount of 1812+ Russians and 1812+ Austrians(shako).

I have a ton of 1809 French with the 1804 flags, but would like to call them 1812-1814 French. They are in Campaign dress(OG) btw. Obviously I would use new 1812 flags.

Is it really even noticeable at 15mm? Did the Grande Armee step off in 1812 with the older long tail coats?

Obviously I can call them whatever I want. I just don't want to look silly is all. Thank you for your opinions.

If you do the research- you shall find many regiments were still carrying 1804 into Russia.
Most or all still had the 1807/08, 1810/11 issue coats, which had long tails.
Do not change your army for just one period change anyway or because of what people might think, but because that is an army you now want to build from scratch (If some one cares of a 1805 Army during play in a 1809 battle etc., perhaps you shouldn't play with them, regardless of figure scale)!

BTW, My 15mm Army has the 1804 pattern, to me is a cooler looking flag!
My 3 cents worth

Yes, I think the 1804 pattern looks cooler too.

you well can call the 1809 French with 1812 eagle colours 1812 ones – that would fit well.

And yes the Grande Armée stepped into the 1812 campaign with round lapels and longer coat tails.

The so called Bardin coat was gradually introduced in 1813 and no – not even Davout's Corps did wear in 1812 the Bardin tunic.

Depends, are you using them for games or for an informative display? If I do Boridino, I have to use some units of early Russian Cavalry, to ensure I have enough units. If I was doing it for a display I would make an effort and borrow more late Russian units, but a game of friends at home or the club it does not matter,

Tally Ho!

I use the 1804 flag for the guard units (since it looks cool!) and the 1812 for the line units.
