Hi,

Can anyone recommend good uniform sources for 1866?

Which armies?

Rhysius Cambrensis19 Jan 2015 3:07 p.m. PST

Primarily the Austrian army. I know the basics of the uniforms but I'm after regimental distinctions particularly for the Austrian Cavalry.

Nigel Smith did a two volume set which would cover what you seek. Should be available from On Military Matters or perhaps Helion.

Brilliant, thanks very much, I will check it out.

Now Austrian high command -what sort of hats?

Royal Marine20 Jan 2015 7:00 a.m. PST

Fluffy no doubt … with lots of feathers and gay abandon.

Damn it -I was hoping for the shako type thing as I've got quite a few command figures in that. Irregular and Battle Honors do a figure -anyone else??
Actually as it's the Austrians I could dispense with higher command ha ha ha

Awesome – thanks all!

Not many command figs needed for Austrians – as I understand it there were no divisional commanders only Brigade and corps?

vtsaogames20 Jan 2015 4:09 p.m. PST

Right, 4 infantry brigades per corps with no divisions.
Although most brigade CO's could be counted on to attack without orders…

What scale figures you plan on using?
