still on the search for drum dimensions, so far no luck, as soon as the info comes up I will let you know

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP13 Jan 2016 6:33 a.m. PST

Thanks! I wait. I found dimensions of French drums, but not early Austrian ones. I suppose that dimension of Austrian drums still the same from Revolution to Waterloo.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP13 Jan 2016 8:05 a.m. PST

Thanks to David I have regulation drum dimensions now.
I was not right, from 1812 the dimensions changed.
But this is OK. From 1772 to 1812 dimensions was H48cm x D43cm.

von Winterfeldt13 Jan 2016 8:52 a.m. PST

@Sho

Can you forward the details to me please, and what sources are those drum sizes based???

All what I could find out so far is that mid 18th century the drum was 54 cm high and had identical diameter, according to Karger, drum sticks were 43,5 cm long.

As David says..
Dolleczek: "Monongraphie der kuk oesterr-ung blanken- und Handfeuerwaffen (1895), p.132:
1772 Okonomie Regelment: 48cm high x 43cm wide; 1812 39 x 42cm; 1814: 34-36cm high x 39cm wide.
---

French drums, I suppose, haved dimensions: D15" x H11"+hoops. I hope, that this is right. Not from documents but from measuring actual items.

Flagbearers are ready.

Eclipsing Binaries16 Feb 2016 7:09 a.m. PST

looking good. Is that the command sets done or are you new officers?

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP16 Feb 2016 8:46 a.m. PST

Have 6 trumpeters, 6 flagbearers and 2 officers but in one mould I can put only 10 of them. So if I don't use figures with tricornes, I may make a full mould now. Or I may make a mould with all flagbearers with 4 other figures. Flagbearers need medium (infantry) mould thanks to flag poles, but others fit well in my mini (cavalry) mould. But then I don't have no full sets and next mould must wait for some other figures to fulfill.

So I think, that the best idea is first choice. Tricornes have no demand. But third officer don't fit in this mould.

New Dragoon/Chevaulegger officers progressing..

von Winterfeldt28 Jul 2016 1:03 p.m. PST

maybe it is the photo, but the officer waving his hand, the arm seems to be very long, in fact, I would have sculpted the hand where the cuff sits

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP02 Aug 2016 6:13 a.m. PST

I resculpted and changed the photo. Now better?
The officer on the right also have smaller face now.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP21 Aug 2016 9:57 a.m. PST

I painted my Austrian troopers and finded his shoulders to be a bit too narrow.
So I resculpt and remould them.
I must do this anyway to match moulds with my wargame rules and to get moulds for every main branch of cavalry instead of mixed moulds.

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP23 Aug 2016 3:29 a.m. PST

Here they are with a bit wider shoulders and I started to make swords longer than historically correct too.

Eclipsing Binaries24 Aug 2016 3:13 a.m. PST

DOH!! I've already bought all my cavalry from you and now I have four regiments of slumpy shouldered weaklings! :(

von Winterfeldt25 Aug 2016 10:25 a.m. PST

they look excellent

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP26 Aug 2016 5:46 a.m. PST

Sorry, Colin. But this is not so bad. Figures with narrower shoulders are like on contemporary pictures.
