Who makes the best bronze paint, and what kind of recipe do you guys recommend. Thanks in advance. |

It used to be the Ral Partha stuff. Now it is Vallejo. |

I like to give a base coat of GW Citadel Tin Bitz (or the Vallejo equivalent) and drybrush with the Golden brand brass. |

There is no one correct color for ancient bronze. Being an alloy, it would vary from place to place, and could be yellow or brass-like, through to copper-colored. |

Just use any color that has "Brass" in name. Ivan DBA is right but brass color looks "right" for polished bronze helmets or breastplates. You can also paint with any "Bronze" and highlight with any "Gold". You can also paint it medium brown and highlight it "Brass" or "Gold". You can paint it "Gold" or "Brass" and use brown wash. All depends on your painting style. I sometimes even use final highlight of silver here and there. Usually for SciFi or Fantasy armor. |

I still have some Ral Partha Bronze. I use it as a base, then drybrush with a variety of different yellow-metal paints. I like the darker, nearly green for the crevices, and the brighter highlights of gold (or ":Brass", or "Champaign Gold", or whatever). |

My recipe Vallejo Model Colour Brass, wash with Army Painter Strong Tone Ink – not dip – (or Citadel Agrax Earthshade), drybrush with the Brass when dry. For officers and specialists touch up extreme highlights with Vallejo Model Color Gold. |

I like to mix Vallejo Model Air Brass and copper and give it a thin sepia wash. |

Mine is shiny and coppery. So I go with Vallejo game color bright bronze. It is the same color as dwarf bronze (GW). |

I'm new to the forum and no expert by any means, but I highly recommend the Reaper brand of paints, specifically the Antique Gold color. It is much lighter and less flashy than the Vallejo Bronze, but I like it alot. |
