Marvellous. Great use of 'spare' materials – gives me ideas for the ancient sphere. Also like your ongoing job on the Arabs. Garry |

Thanks for all the great comments guys… 'Brucka' – The hull is shaped from pink foam (high density polystyrene) and then clad in regular card. Ill be posting the rest of the builds to this thread. Cheers |

Eric, Just read through to the end of part 3. As a navy guy, I was really glad to see you move the superstructure back some. Still not thrilled with the offset cabin – though I like your reasoning. Can't think of a single ship I've ever seen with such an offset (aircraft carriers are so big in the hull the superstructure isn't so big a problem, of course) and it immediately worried me about your ships sea keeping ability. But since this great little boat will never have to 'go afloat' I wouldn't change things. And your posts are timely for my own inspiration, though I work in 15 mm – and found a Thomas Train boat that I think I'll cut in half and use for my bow and stern and only have to build the midships portion. Count me as a watcher. (and nobody tell Eric I'm also a thief, he might hide what else he does! shhh) |

Early morning writer Playability trumps reality on a gaming table. Eric This ship looks great, *and* it's a practical design. Now all it really needs for it's basic structure is a cargo boom. Good going man! |

Looks great, same technique my wife used to make me a couple of paddle steamers and a tramp steamer (you can see them in one of her Wargames Widow articles in Miniature Wargames). Like the really big ship, I fancy making one of them as a static feature on the table and three or four skiffs with pirates on board trying to get onto the ship. |

I couldn't get the hull shape right on my build…….so I got hold of several Lego ship hulls and knocked out a cargo tramp and a modern patrol boat….

There is a 20 mm crewman there for scale……..the smaller Lego hulls are good conversion fodder too…..

Ah, good, I've been looking for the next installment. By the way, Eric, if you have an extra pair or two of bollards, you might put some midships but not strictly necessary and might get in the way of miniatures. Really looking good. |

Thinking of an A-frame over the cargo hold? |
EricThe Shed | 19 Feb 2015 11:58 a.m. PST |
There is going to be a mast – with rigging and swing arms This has become quite a slow build as too much on at work and too many other projects Sorry – but it will be finished |

>>There is going to be a mast – with rigging and swing arms<< Nice job! Including the mast and cargo booms is a must. Winches would add some nice detail and add some cover for skirmishes on deck. |
