A lot of people have been asking me to make the mods to my 1914 French infantry so that they can be used for 1870. It's a small series of mods – – no kepi cover, add epaulettes and spats, etc, so that would not be a big problem.

My concern is that people would then want a complete line of 1870 models. I'm not sure I'm going to get into that at the moment. What do you think of backdating these infantry so they can be used for the FPW, without making a complete line?

I have to be honest, I like to buy ranges from companies who make complete lines. So if only French and no other powers, then I would not be a buyer. There are others who mix and match freely, but I like consistency, as much as possible, with my figures.

Well, that's honest anyway! And appreciated. I may skip this until (and if) I'm ready to go all the way with mid-late 19th C Europe.

Hi, if I was going to buy 15mm FPW armies again, I'd consider buying from you.

Alas, all my Franco-Prussian figures are 28mm. I've bought from a variety of manufacturers ranging from Askari Miniatures and Eureka Minis USA to Battle Honors, Old Glory, and Wargames Foundry. No one besides Foundry makes a complete 28mm Franco-Prussian range. So I had to buy from a bunch of different manufactures (Col. Campbell can testify to that, too).

I did have complete 15mm FPW armies about 15 years ago. My figure then were Essex, Outpost Wargames Service, 19th Century Miniatures, and Old Glory. Anyway, I'd prefer to buy from one manufacturer. Battle Honors drives me nuts because they have 25mm 1859/1866 Austrians, 25mm 1866 Saxons, and 25mm 1859/1870 French infantry and artillery. But they don't make any 25mm Prussians.

So I had to get 25mm 1870 French artillery from Battle Honors, 25mm 1870 French Command and Mitraileuse from Foundry, 25mm Prussian and Bavarian artillery crews from Foundry, 25mm Krupp Guns from Old Glory, etc… I spent a small fortune in Foundry just so I can play a couple of games. I tried economizing where I could with different figure lines. But doing this project in 15mm would have been cheaper and less costly. That's my mistake in selling off my painted 15mm FPW armies in the first place.

Now, if you DID a complete range, I may be tempted, but I would want Bavarians, always gotta have Bavarians! :)
