I have 15mm Stormtroopers which I've mounted on 15mm washers. Now I hope to use them against 15mm Ewoks but also hopefully in a Urban environment or Space Station and against Rebels on Hoth, and possibly a desert environment. My dilemma is how to base them? Clear disks is not an option. Grey flat base? Desert? Snow? Temperate forest base? |

Brown tends to be the best bet for multi-terrain use – never fits in perfectly, but never looks completely out of place either. |

Brown tends to be the best bet for multi-terrain use That's a useful suggestion. Would you use a light brown or a dark brown? |

Direct answers to the question without anyone asking the source of the 15mm Stormtroopers. :-) And why are clear discs not an option? Personal preference? Grimm |

The unnamed 15mm figures come with integral bases so trimming them off is a pain if your want to use clear discs. No such things as what the OP is referring to… not officially….. very hush hush…. |

I agree with the brown suggest – I use a desert yellow with a flock mix of small rocks and some yellowish grass |

I'd go with a middling earth shade – vallejo German camouflage medium brown is my usual go-to, drybrushed with a dusty colour. |

I use a texturing paste and then paint a dark grey. Follow this with dry brushes of lighter greys and light tans. I then put just a little bit of dark green flock on in places to suggest vegetation. Upon close inspection they don't really match anything but when you are looking at the figures or the big picture they blend in well. I've used them in grey building, spaceship, and tunnel interiors, the hint of tan gets them to blend with desert terrain, and the little bit of green helps them blend with green ground cloths. They don't draw your eyey even on tan ship decks. |

I'd probably go with Brown as well, if you don't make the bases too 'showy' they should fit with most terrain types. |

Hi Guys Thank you very much for the suggestions. Clear bases aren't an option due to several things. Availability (just can't get them here) Work involved removing bases (only 50 figures but not really wanting to) even though the results I've seen of other peoples work is top notch and cost It seems the Brown or Grey options seem quite viable. I have the Rebel Minis Titan Marines and Stormtroopers link with Eureka 15mm WWI Italian officers as their officers. And the At-ST's and AT-PD's from the Star Wars Command sets. They are on clear bases. My son has the "Certain Fellows" from a very top notch popular 15mm manufacturer that I got him for Xmas. His are the type you would expect to see in a Giant Space Battle Station. Possibly mine might end up with Browns and veg for surface operations. His might end up grey for Station and Urban environments (that is his preferred operation theatre.) I did a 15mm Dr Who figure with a mid-light grey so he would be "neutral" compared to the other figures in the game as the idea is he is slightly outside of the "Norm" that others live in. Problem is I keep losing him because his base is so neutral. So
